Web of Life: Spidery Inspirations on Etsy
Handpicked on Etsy
Spider. Web. Two words we often merge into a single concept. In literature, the symbolic web gives rise to analogies such as Chief Seattle's prosaic "web of life" (see below) or poetic "tangled web of lies" referenced by Shakespeare and Walter Scott. In art, spider and web depictions run the gamut from whimsical to mystical, from literal to vaguely symbolic. These ten creations by Etsy artists reflect a fascination with the spider as creature and its captivating (pun intended) creation, the cobweb. Prices range from $15.00 to $350.00.
From top left to bottom right, these Etsy artists include: shoofly, ecohead, Shkolnik, bayly, miadesignie, ModernHouseArt, busybee, mepottery, BroadStreet, mamonknits.
*Chief Seattle delivered a famous speech in 1850, in which he stated: "Whatever befalls the Earth, befalls the people of the Earth. Man did not weave the web of life. He is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web he does to himself."

thanks for featuring my bugs and spiders bracelet.
Creepy beautiful! :^)
Such a fun bracelet! I prefer my spiders and bugs in lovely artful depictions like this rather than crawling or buzzing around me. :)
Oh, what a beautiful choice!
Thanks for featuring my lace web felted scarf!
;)
All of your creations are beautiful and I hope this will inspire people to visit your shop!
lovely lil' treasury! thanks for including Broad Street!
The green cobweb scarf is really weightless but warn and soft as a web. Casual holes attract eyes on face and cloth beneath. I have similar scarf with all kind of colors and sizes for easy conbination with any style.
The green scarf looks so tempting. The photo is lovely and I'll bet it is even nicer in person.
I really loved the feature and all the items are beautiful. Thanks for including my cobweb jumper :)
