Moved by the horrendous disaster in Haiti earlier this week, Etsy artists have joined in the effort to raise funds for relief. The first two showcased items are being donated from my own stores, and many independent sellers are doing likewise. Other sellers are participating in group efforts such as HeartsforHaiti. Chartreuse: Color Scheming on Etsy

Chartreuse has come to mean a color about halfway between yellow and green, while traditionally it meant 'yellow with a green cast' after the French liquer of the same name. Milky White: Ethereal Travels on Etsy

My theme today is the color "white", and the first Etsy listing that caught my eye was a piece of vintage milkglass. I'm saving "vintage" for another day's topic, and focus for now simply on the loveliness of ethereal, creamy white in various manifestations of new and old creations. I found myself going back and forth in time as I ran across milkglass and broken china repurposed as jewelry, then some modern-day handcrafted porcelain pieces that reminded me of the classic hobnail motif of milkglassware.
