Synergy: Followers Appreciation Day

Handpicked on Etsy
Today I am catching up with my own studio work, but wanted to take a moment to show appreciation for some of the followers of EtsyLounge who have repeatedly taken the time to post comments and contribute to SEO for this blog (see yesterday's post.) I stopped by 8 stores of previously featured artists, and found 8 lovely new things to display in this 'smorgasbord feast for the eyes.' It is generous of talented, busy artists like these to continually participate at this blog and support their fellow Etsy artists by creating synergy for all, and it makes the effort of doing this project worthwhile for me.
Click on the pictures to go directly to these Etsy listings. Prices range from $10.00 to $300.00. Today's featured artists are: Brightnewthings, sleepymoondesign, safletcherart, 2ndcoming, ingermaaike, lauratrevey, BrooklynThread, KCRlehrstudio

REDUX Tips to Artists Featured Here at EtsyLounge

Expanded Redux of my July 28th Post:
Why Follow? If you're a featured artist here, you have been given a free, permanent promotion at this blog. To increase your advantage as a featured artist, simply link to (visit) this site once in awhile to boost the ranking in the search engines. Everytime you link to this blog, you add one more site visit, and because every site visit contributes to SEO (search engine optimization,) it benefits you! So, please take advantage by following, visiting, telling your friends to follow & adding synergy to EtsyLounge.
Promote Yourself: You can more actively promote yourself simply by including your URL when you comment, so that people can find their way to your own site. In fact, whenever you post a comment on this or any other blog, you should always include your URL link to your site or store! As stated above, when others link to you, you score one point at a time with the search engines toward raising your page ranking. Anonymous comments accomplish nothing for you at all, and signing off with your store name will help a little, but nothing works as well for you as posting a link.

In summary, I want EtsyLounge to work for you and for all of us, so please take advantage and freely use this site to promote yourself and fellow artisans by creating those links! The more you participate, the more you will be rewarded by drawing attention to yourself.

Bronze: Uncommon Jewelry on Etsy, Part II

Handpicked on Etsy
Bronze: An alloy and a name of a color denoting a mid-value, earthy brown hue. Today's feature showcases the beauty of bronze as both a color and a medium.
As a color name, the word 'bronze' was first used in the English language in the mid-18th century. Bronze, as a metal alloy consisting of copper mixed typically with tin, was so revolutionary in human culture that an entire historical era bears its name: The Bronze Age. Throughout the ages, from antiquity right up to modern times, it has been used for tools, weaponry, building materials and ornamental arts. With the addition of silicon in the 20th century, bronze gained even wider application in industry and modern statuary. To many, it may seem commonplace and humble, but in talented artistic hands it becomes extraordinary. Today's selections feature bronze either as a surface-finish color or a metal component in the creations of eight talented jewerly designers found on Etsy. Some of these artists have had no sales and receive minimal traffic to their stores, despite their superb artistry. Click on the pictures to go directly to these Etsy listings. Prices range from $20.00 to $195.00.

Brass: Uncommon Jewelry on Etsy, Part I

Handpicked on Etsy
Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, often used ornamentally for its warm golden tones reminiscent of the more prized gold. Not only can it be a fun alternative to shiny gold, but aged and vintage brass possesses a lovely, earthy patina that I happen to adore. Because of its affordability for costume jewelry, it is commonly used in castings, findings and chain. Stepping beyond that, talented metal forgers and designers can achieve sublime results using brass as the primary medium or a secondary component, as illustrated by the selections in today's showcase of Etsy jewelry designers. Fractal Geometry on Etsy

Handpicked on Etsy
A Fractal, known to mathematicians as The Mandelbrot Set, is very simply defined as an object that displays infinitely complex self-similarity at all scales. Mathematically inclined artists can use Benoit Mandelbrot's iterated equation, Z = Z2 + C, to generate digital fractal images, or freehand art influenced by the fascinating iteration and recursion of fractals.
Inspired by the recent fascinating Nova feature about fractal geometry, I became curious to see whether Etsy artists consciously use fractals as inspiration and was pleased to find a few to showcase in today's feature.
While fractal patterns are evidenced everywhere in nature, from fern fronds to jagged mountain ranges, it is another of those phenomena we are often oblivious of or take for granted, until either a mathematician or a skilled artist invites us to focus on the mesmerizing beauty of natural repetition. Click on the pictures to go directly to these Etsy listings. Prices from $6.00 to $200.00.
Today's Etsy artists include: Roo84, Fractalgirl, kellydietrich, infraliminil, HAzevedo, lunarcus, ArtisticallySpeaking, bibbidibaubles

Take a Seat Part II: Chair Art on Etsy

Handpicked on Etsy
Yesterday I featured handcrafted chairs, furniture in which to sit. Today's topic is the chair used by talented Etsy artists as subject matter in the painterly, ceramic and photographic arts. One of these selections depicts the artist's playful flight of fancy, and the others invite the viewer to imagine the story.
The chair is a familiar object that generally provides comfort and style, or in some cases evokes anxiety (the "hot seat") or power (the executive chair or throne.) When we see empty chairs depicted in art, we tend to envision people using the chair. A lone chair may personify a specific individual (the ubiquitous, well-used "man chair") or evoke pleasant images of people in repose or contemplation, and in other cases pathos such as loneliness. Groupings of chairs suggest conversations or people-watching. To see up close images of these listings, click on the picture to go directly the Etsy store. Prices range from $15.00 to $550.00.
Today's Etsy artists include: fineartimages, jennamcknight, cherielester, Gypsey24, barbdunshee, shannspishak, ChipmunkCheeks, mimidoodles, SweetMess, saramulloy, honetree, peylu

Take a Seat: Modern Chairs on Etsy

Handpicked on Etsy
The chair has long been an opportunity for artisans and designers to explore form and function. A good chair designer is a sculptor and most definitely an artist. Materials may be locally gathered or industrial state-of-the-art, and the goal may be a blend of comfort, style, ornamentation or purely decorative. Today's featured examples reflect an appreciation of the modern aesthetic, representing vintage mid-20th Century International Style, updated handcrafted takes on Craftsman Style, Scandinavian Modern and a whimsical interpretation of the classic Federal Style using modern materials. Click on the pictures to go directly to these Etsy listings. Prices range from $399.00 to $4500.00.
