Tartan: Plaid is In on Etsy

Handpicked on Etsy
Segueing from stripes into plaid, today's theme is about bands of color running at 90 degrees to each other, crossing over and under to create repeating, rhytmic blocks. Plaid pattern originated in cloth, historically associated with the regions and clans of the Scottish highlands where 'plaid' is known as 'tartan.' If you love plaid, you're in luck because the store racks will be loaded with authentic and mock tartan this season. As the "must have" of the moment, this autumn we won't be taking the lining of our Burberry coats or classic tartan skirts, scarves and blankets for granted! Today's featured artists are not new to plaid, and they apply the pattern in ways that are both classic and unconventional to create pieces that will look timely right now and remain classic in the future. Click on the pictures to go directly to these Etsy listings. Prices range from $14.00 to $150.00.
Today's featured Etsy artisans include: LuckyZelda, yystudio, tangibledreams, CharmedCeramics, moaningminnie, orsinimedici1951, LuliBags, KnotOriginal, vhefner, UnderReconstruction, JDWolfePottery, hellome, malaniehazen, dicopebisuteria

OMG, Love the red and grey tartan skirt. Tartan is one of my favorite things - I collect a lot of vintage wool tartan pieces. Great collection!
